Dinner Party

We headed over to our friends house for dinner. Max loves Mr. Jim and Ms. Allyson and especially loves their house. His favorite things to do are play chess, rock in the rocking chairs, look at all their presidential pictures, and of course eat the Sprinkles cupcakes they always seem to have.

Sweet Endings

Traveling home we stopped in a little town called Gruene and ate at the Gristmill Restaurant overlooking the Guadalupe River. What a great little town complete with country store, gourmet food store, and small antique shops.
We made it back to Dallas around 6:45pm in a rush to get to Sprinkles before they closed at 7:00pm. We called right at 7 when we were around the corner and they stayed open for us. What a sweet ending to a great trip - sickness and all.

Rainforest and Smores

Once we got back to the hotel and rested up Max was feeling great. No more sickness. We headed out and explored our hotel and then we went to the Rainforest Cafe on the Riverwalk where we met back up with our friends.

When we got back to our hotel we headed outside to the firepits to make smores.

Sea World - Take Two

What's worse than Sea World in a hurricane. The day after a hurricane with 90% humidity and upper 90's temeratures. Max was pretty miserable from the moment we arrived. He kept asking to be covered from the sun so I draped a towel over his stroller. We revisited the horses, dolphins, sharks, ate lunch, and watched the Shamu show. I ordered him chicken for lunch and removed all the fried breading but did allow him to have about 5 french fries. He was so zapped from the heat/humidity and lack of overall fluids in his body that he just kind of lounged at the Shamu show and begged me to take him back to the hotel. After we finished the show Max and I headed out, I wanted to monitor the lunch he just had and make sure he kept drinking enough fluids. Daddy called on our way out of the park and said he was done for the day and was passing Sea World so he was able to come and rescue us.

Sickness Recovery

We survived the night with only one more vomiting episode and that was only water and probably because we weren't really regulating the amount he was taking in. He kept waking up asking for water and since it was in the middle of the night of course we just sleepily handed it to him. He woke up around 9:00 very hungry. I was intent on following the feeding schedule so I would only give him an ounce of water or a saltine cracker every 15 min. He got very angry because he was starving but we did that for about an hour and a half and then he just gave up and went back to bed. Our friends called and said they were on their way back to the hotel and would pick us up to go to Sea World. I got Max dressed and ready to go and we headed out.

The Cavalry Arrives

Once we made it back to our hotel. Our friends stopped by and gave Max presents they had bought while they were out to dinner. Thank you Sipes Family for your wonderful friendship. Max's spirit was definately lifted by seeing his friends. He played with his state puzzle and book for the rest of the night.

San Antonio Doctor

We searched online for a children's urgent care facility close to our hotel. Fortunately we found one about 10 minutes away. Once Daddy arrived we headed to the doctor. After a full examination he decided to give him some anti-nausea medicine. Another blessing was he had fallen asleep and the doctor was able to get him to do the exam with no problems. He even sad open up and say Ahhh and Max did while eyes closed. Max had started to wake up when the nurse came in with the medicine. He was able to take the medicine but was too sleepy to protest too much, he realized to late that the medicine tasted horrible. If he would have been fully awake he would have definately thrown it up just from the taste. Once he had the medicine we had to do the waiting game. Drink 1oz of gatorade, wait 15 minutes, repeat. Once we had done that three times and no vomit we were released. Here we are during the waiting phase:We all looked horrible going to the doctor. Max sick, Mommy newly showered no makeup hair left to dry on its own, and Daddy soaked from coming to get us so he just went in wearing dress pants and a white t-shirt.

Exiting - Easier Said than Done

Once we decided to leave Sea World for the day we actually had to get out of the park. We treked back to the entrance and had to wait for our roller coaster photo. Yeah thats right, the little man that kept vomiting wanted to ride the roller coaster. We got our photo then headed to the line for a rain check ticket. About that time the sky started looking very scary and Sea World announced that they were closing for the day due to inclement weather. As I was waiting in line I saw our hotel shuttle and figured I had better get rescued while I could. We left the line and ran across the entrance plaza to the shuttle just as it was pulling away. I guess we looked pretty pathetic because they ended up backing up to get us and we took the last two seats. Oh I forgot to mention, since our lunch was cancelled Max wanted a bag of Cheetos on our way out of the park. He had such a good morning I thought ok we could try that. On the shuttle back to the hotel he started looking a little green. I just kept praying please don't vomit in the shuttle all over these people. We made it to the hotel and up to our room. We had been there about five minutes and here come the cheetos. Positive note, our room had not been cleaned for the day yet so now there were to vomit spots to address, one you couldn't miss since it was bright orange. I get him bathed and both of us in to dry clothes, call Daddy away from his conference to take us to the doctor, and the phone rings. It was our friends who were joining us in San Antonio that day. She greets me with heard there has been some excitement around here. Thinking she must have talked to my husband I say, what Max vomiting. She was like no the tornado warning where they had all the hotel guests come down stairs into the banquet hall. At this point I just had to laugh, that was Sea World's "inclement weather" and nasty sky we saw. So while all the hotel guests were huddled in the banquet hall, Max and I were running across the Sea World entrance to get in a shuttle. Don't worry we are from Oklahoma, we know what a tornado looks like but it was funny none the less.
