We have been monitoring a collar bone issue of Max's since he was a baby. We have been seeing a bone specialist since he was two. No one can tell us if Max was born with a broken collar bone or if he broke it somewhere along the way, but we do know he has had a

broken collar bone. His first CT Scan (Age 2.5) suggested, after months of wearing a bone growth stimulator, that it had joined and his protruding bone would slowly diminish over time. Well at age 4.5 this bump has yet to go away. Therefore the doctor wanted to get another CT Scan done. Since the first CT Scan involved anesthesia we put it off all summer.

We finally scheduled it the day before school started and were so relieved with how far Max has come. He was able to wear the hospital bracelet (minor miracle itself) and sit still for the amount of time necessary to scan his collar bone. We have our follow-up appointment with his doctor on Tuesday but from the
radiologist notes it does not sound like he has a fully connected collar bone. Pics - Max in the waiting room, showing off his hospital bracelet, and CT Scanner from a tour earlier in the summer.
DOCTOR VISIT UPDATE: Bone not necessarily still completely broken but not healed either (most likely congenital pseudoarthrosis). Since it doesn't seem to bother Max leave it alone for now. Let Max, once he is older, help decide whether or not to install metal plate. In the meantime no restrictions on what Max can be involved in, let his body tell him what he can and can't do.
