Trick or Treat

We began Halloween night by having a Jack-O-Lantern pizza for dinner. Then Max had to decide do I want to put on my costume and go get candy or do I want to stay here and watch the Mavs? Hmmm.

Trick or Treat :

This was the first year that Max actually went trick or treating. At two he made it out the front door and decided no, at three he actually made it to the end of our sidewalk before turning around. This year he was ready. Of course, Max had a specific way to trick or treat. He first had to read the house number of every house that he was going to, then he had to ring their doorbell (even if they were already outside), then he had to say Trick or Treat Happy Halloween, he then needed to see what they were putting in his pumpkin and make a comment on each one. If they happened to have a pet he needed to ask the pets name, sometimes in English, sometimes in Spanish. After he returned home and told me all the "perros and gatos" (dogs and cats) names that he had seen and showed me all his candy, he then took over handing out our candy. Every time I tried to give someone a lollipop (his favorite), he would say "no, no not a sucker" and take it from me and give them another candy. What a great accomplishment for him to be able to go trick or treating and have so many conversations with people along the way.
