Our church was having their annual beach party at the local natatorium. During the party they also do baptisms. We had asked Max prior to the party if he was ready to be baptized and he was certain that the answer was no - he wanted to wait until middle school. We knew spiritually he was ready but knew the water might be an issue. He wanted to know how deep it was, what if he couldn't touch, what if he drowned, etc... We calmed all of those fears but told him he could get baptized whenever he was ready, that everyone has to make that choice for themselves. On the night of the party, he looks over to me and says I am going to be baptized tonight. What? A little warning would have been nice, could of put on the good bathing suit, charged the camera, went to the baptism meetings. Our children's pastor talked with Max once we got there to make sure he understood what baptism meant and the decision he was making. According to Max - he (Max) had all the right answers. So in true Max fashion of doing things his own way and in his own time he was baptized.
